Intended Audience
This course is intended for mechanical engineers.
Benefit for Attendee
Attendee of this course will be able to understand how to design, commission, operate and maintain a laboratory facility with an emphasis on lowering energy use.
Course Introduction
The basic energy challenge confronting laboratory designers is the high cost of conditioning the large volume of ventilation air needed to meet safety requirements and building codes. Because of stringent laboratory requirements, many best practices for energy-efficient laboratories attempt to reduce the amount of energy required to condition ventilation air. Fortunately, opportunities to do this arise at each phase of the design and construction process.
