At the conclusion of this course, the student will:
- Know the basic comprehension of the terms generally used by qualified personnel oil and gas operations;
- Understand the concepts and parameters used in petroleum geology;
- Understand the common terms usually used in drilling engineering;
- Know the meaning and application of well completion, stimulation and workover;
- Be able to learn and recognize the importance of underwater welding, due its huge use in onshore, offshore, general construction and maintenance;
- Know the basic comprehension of the terms generally used by qualified personnel in every stage of cutting and underwater welding operations;
- Understand the meaning of cementing, capillarity, fluid circuit, casings, BOPs, Christmas Trees, raisers, umbilicals, ROVs, etc.
- Be aware of the potential of using ROVS, AUVs and robot manipulators for underwater welding, NDT, and video monitoring;
- Know and understand the meaning of acidizing, oil shale, injection well, proppants, etc.;
- Know and understand the meaning of drawworks, derricks, drill bits, blowout preventer, etc.;
- Understand how to apply subsea systems, dynamic positioning and software simulations;
- Knowledge of specific products, such as, benzene, pentane, cyclohexane, hexane, heptane,etc.; Understand what means isooctane, acetone, and diethyl ether that are all options to gasoline production and ethanol/water mixture;
- Know the minimum concepts of cracking, hydrocracking, alkylation, reforming, isomeration, etc.; and
- Know and understand the meaning of column packings, trays, etc.
