Board Laws & Rules
and Professional Ethics
Course Outline
A licensee must get familiar with the board laws and rules in order to practice engineering in any state. Although the vast majority of the professional engineers practice in accordance with the board laws and rules, each year the New York Board receives complaints against some licensees who may have violated the regulations either knowingly or unknowingly. This course provides a review of the New York Board Laws and Rules contained in Articles 15 & 15-A of Business Corporation Law, Articles 12 & 13 of Limited Liability Company Law, Article 145 of Education Law, Part 29 Unprofessional Conduct - Rules of the Board of Regents, and Part 68 Engineering and Land Surveying - Commissioner's Regulations. In addition, brief case summaries are presented for recent violations and the disciplinary actions taken by the Board along with some of the frequently asked questions. This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of course materials.
