Selected Topics in Mechanics of Materials
Course Outline
Whether you are an engineer or an architect, it is essential to have a basic understanding about the mechanics of materials. This course introduces engineers and architects to the fundamental principles involved in designing typical components such as drive shafts, floor beams, pressure tanks, and bolted connections found in machines or structures. The selected topics include the mechanical properties of materials, torsion, bending, stress and strain transformation, beam deflection, and column stability, with the emphasis towards real-world applications.
This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to
enhance the understanding of course materials.
