Ms. Stein is a graduate of Rutgers University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in New York State. Ms. Stein began her engineering career in 1980. Since then, she has gained significant experience in the fields of hazardous waste management, groundwater investigation, and hazardous waste remediation. Ms. Stein has extensive regulatory experience with the following federal environmental programs: RCRA (permit writing and corrective action reviews), NEPA (EIS preparation), and the National Estuary Program. She also has experience with CERCLA, the Brownfields Program, and the Underground Storage Tank Program. Ms. Stein has mentored many new employees during her tenure at EPA, to provide them with an understanding of program and policy issues to help ensure that they have the tools necessary to make sound decisions.
