Dr. Raghu obtained graduate degrees from the University of Kentucky and Texas Tech University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of New Jersey. He began his engineering career in 1962 in India. Since then he has gained significant experience in teaching, research and consulting in the fields of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering. Having retired from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Newark, NJ in 2013, he currently holds the title of Professor Emeritus in the Civil and environmental engineering department. Dr. Raghu has authored numerous technical reports and studies and has served as a reviewer for national and international publishers. He has received research grants from several organizations and agencies and has organized several technical conferences. He has guided several doctoral and graduate students in research activities.
In the area of consulting, Dr. Raghu has been very active. He has utilized his consulting experience in developing new applied research, new techniques for design and construction and in organizing several conferences for engineers. Dr. Raghu has served in technical societies and on committees at the local, regional, and national level of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers (NJSPE). He was a past Vice President of the New Jersey Section of ASCE and a past president of the North Branch of the New Jersey Section of ASCE. Dr. Raghu has won several teaching and engineering awards such as Engineer of the year, Professor of the year and distinguished service to the profession awards.
