PDHonline Course Provider Biography
Mr. Graves earned his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and MS in Environmental Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Kansas and Massachusetts, and was previously licensed in Connecticut, Florida, Maine, and Vermont.
During his career spanning more than 30 years in the engineering profession, Mr. Graves has worked as an engineering consultant, state regulator, campus engineer, and municipal engineer. His consulting work included the analysis and design of water and wastewater utilities, residential and commercial developments, surface water management systems, and highway/ traffic facilities in several states, as well as performing numerous environmental site assessments. His work for the Kansas Department of Health & Environment included engineering reviews and permitting of sanitary sewer systems, municipal wastewater treatment plants, and solid waste landfills. As Assistant Chief Engineer for the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Division of Water Resources, he helped manage a large staff regulating dams, levees, stream obstructions and channel changes, water rights, and interstate compacts. He was Deputy Director of Design & Construction Management for The University of Kansas, managing a variety of campus improvement projects and overseeing a staff of engineers, architects, landscape architects, support staff, and tradespersons. Mr. Graves is a former Town Engineer and currently a senior project manager for the Town of Barnstable on Cape Cod, primarily leading transportation and marine facilities improvement projects.
