This three-hour PDH online course discusses the selection of sustainable building materials for incorporating into sustainable buildings. Not only the manufacturing and transportation costs of building materials are considered but the reduced utility bills, improved quality and comfort of the interior and benefits to the environment are considered.
Energy saving, improved air quality, life cycle guidelines, reuse and recycling, waste and pollution reduction are considered. Criteria for the selection of sustainable materials to best meet guidelines for sustainable buildings during the manufacturing, construction and removal phases are also considered. Each step is examined for its environmental impact. Examples of sustainable building materials and passive features are provided.
This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
