Carbon Capture, Transportation, and Storage

Ahmad Hammouz, P.Eng.

This course provides an integrated introduction to Carbon Capture, Transportation, and Storage (CCTS) as a strategic pathway for achieving large-scale industrial decarbonization and long-term net-zero objectives. It examines the complete CCTS value chain from the engineering principles behind carbon capture technologies, to the treatment and pressurization of CO₂ streams, to the design and operation of transport networks and geologic storage systems.

Learners will explore how carbon capture systems interface with industrial processes, electricity generation, and emerging carbon dioxide removal approaches. The course also examines the supply chain, infrastructure requirements, economic considerations, and policy mechanisms that shape CCTS deployment at scale. By understanding material demands, workforce needs, permitting challenges, financial drivers, and technological readiness, participants will gain the analytical perspective required to evaluate where, when, and how carbon capture and storage solutions can be feasibly implemented within national decarbonization strategies.

By the end of the course, attendees will be equipped to interpret the scientific, engineering, and market foundations of CCTS, assess commercial and deployment challenges, and understand the role of carbon capture as a critical enabler of net-zero and carbon-negative emissions pathways.

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
