This 6-hour course is the third in a series of five courses on the design of relaying and system protection programs for electric utilities. These courses describe the fundamental concepts of electric system protection and provides detailed examples of the application of relaying. In most cases, the material is based on electromechanical relays to give the reader a strong understanding of current relaying practices.
This course explains the practices involved in protecting transmission lines and includes overcurrent relaying, distance relaying, and pilot relaying.
This series is divided into five separate courses. Each course essentially stands on its own and the courses do not necessarily need to be taken in the order listed. However, for a thorough understanding it makes sense to take the courses are presented.
This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
