Selecting Pressure: Sensors, Gauges or Transmitters

Clifford T Johnson, P.E., CSE

The course will explore the some of the actual experiences that the author encountered during his 60 years sales and engineering experienced working in the discipline of Control Systems Engineer. You can search the Internet and find the histories on almost anything including instruments, controls and automation but you may not find it as useful and interesting as is this course. Much of the information in the course was provided by Ashcroft Solutions for the Process Industry. I started my career in Instrumentation with Manning Maxwell & Moore the Manufacture of Ashcroft Instruments (gauges, thermometers & valves). Today the Ashcroft line is made by Dresser Industries. They have been the leaders in the field and still are. my experience in actually applying pressure controls will add to their information.

Are you making common mistakes when selecting pressure sensors? There are many factors to consider when selecting pressure measurement instruments. Using the wrong pressure sensor can result in hydraulic shock, wrong pressure reference, injuries, inaccuracy or pressure sensor interchangeability.

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
