Brian Lisiewski, P.E. This 2-PDH, self-paced course equips Professional Engineers to harness computer vision (CV) and artificial intelligence (AI) as decision-support tools for construction quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), progress monitoring, and safety management. Through real-world examples spanning civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental disciplines, you will learn how AI-driven image and video analysis verifies rebar and anchor placement, confirms pour readiness, tracks site logistics and progress against BIM schedules, enforces PPE compliance, and flags near-miss incidents before they become accidents. Throughout, the course reinforces a central principle: AI observes and alerts, but the licensed engineer decides. You will learn to weigh model limitations and false-positive/false-negative trade-offs, apply risk-based prioritization (risk matrices and FMEA), build defensible evidence and audit trails, design human-in-the-loop review workflows, and document AI use in a manner consistent with ISO 9001 and NSPE/ASCE codes of ethics. This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials. NY PE & PLS: You must choose courses that are technical in nature or related to matters of laws and ethics contributing to the health and welfare of the public. NY Board does not accept courses related to office management, risk management, leadership, marketing, accounting, financial planning, real estate, and basic CAD. Specific course topics that are on the borderline and are not acceptable by the NY Board have been noted under the course description on our website. |
