Engineering the Magic: The Design and Construction of Walt Disney WorldPE, PLS, RA

Walt Disney World was conceived not as a single attraction but as a coordinated development of transportation, water management, utilities, hotels, entertainment facilities, service infrastructure, and themed public space. This course examines how the original Florida Project translated an ambitious creative program into buildable systems on a low-relief, water-sensitive Central Florida site.

Participants study site selection and master planning, hydrology and earthwork, district-scale infrastructure, transportation and circulation, building and attraction systems, construction logistics, commissioning, and lifecycle adaptability. The emphasis is on transferable engineering lessons: defining performance requirements, managing interfaces, separating public and service functions, planning for operations, and preserving design intent through multidisciplinary delivery.

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance understanding of the course materials.
