An important question to ask when considering a manufacturing process is as follows: “Is my process capable (that is, is my process capable of producing product within specifications over time?). Process Capability analysis is crucial to answering this question. It considers the normal, routine and expected variation in the process, product, and testing methods, and compares it to the specification limits, using a measure called Ppk. This course will review how to do this calculation in a straight-forward, easy-to-understand way for non-Statisticians, as well as provide clear instructions on how to check key assumptions to have assurance that the Ppk value is reliable. You will not need any special statistical software to do this, as the course uses Excel. A complimentary Datovation™© Excel template/tool will also be provided for training purposes. This course is intended for architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, or Six Sigma practitioners, such as those who provide services for manufacturing clients, and especially the biopharmaceutical industry or other sophisticated operations. This course is a sequel to the course “Control Charts and Process Stability using Excel,” which is highly recommended, but not a required, prerequisite for this course.
