Control Charts and Process Stability using Excel

Timothy D. Blackburn, MBA, PE

An important question to ask when considering a manufacturing process is as follows: “Is my process stable (that is, is my process in a state of statistical process control). This is evaluated using Control Charts through identifying whether we have special cause variation versus common cause. This course includes an overview of the most common control chart, the Individuals Control Chart. It also includes straight-forward instructions how to calculate control limits even when using Excel (not a built-in feature for Excel), structure the chart, and interpret the outcomes. Examples are included for practice, as well as the Datovation™© Excel tool (at no additional charge when used for training purposes.) This course is intended for architects, engineers, contractors, and Six Sigma practitioners, such as those who provide services for manufacturing clients, and especially the biopharmaceutical industry as well as other sophisticated operations. This course is a recommended prerequisite for the “Process Capability using Excel” course also by the Author.

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
