Seismic Design for Mechanical Equipment Installations

Steven G. Liescheidt, P.E., CCS, CCPR

Earthquakes are more likely to occur in some parts of the world than others. When buildings are constructed in areas where seismic activity is likely to occur the building codes and standards require seismic bracing of mechanical equipment. The selection and specification of products for installation of mechanical equipment in seismic zones requires some basic understanding of how the installation of this equipment needs to be implemented.

This course is based on the document Installing Seismic Restraints For Mechanical Equipment, FEMA 412/December 2002.

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
