Steel, an alloy of iron with about 1% carbon, is one of the world’s most essential engineering materials. It is fundamental to every aspect of our lives, from giant buildings and bridges to the humble tinplated steel can that preserves food. The worldwide annual crude steel production reached just over 1.8 billion tonnes in 2018. This course focuses on the history, development and applications of steel. You will learn about the people who made significant contribution to the steelmaking technologies and the major milestones in the development of various types of steel. In addition, you will get to know the current trend in the steel industry.
This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of course materials.
