Helen Chen, Ph.D., PE Wind energy is a source of renewable power which comes from air currents flowing across Earth's surface. Wind turbines harvest this kinetic energy and convert it into usable power which can provide electricity for homes, schools, farms, hospitals, factories, and offices. It produces no greenhouse gases or pollution, and uses no water in the generating process, unlike other power sources. This course provides an overview of winds, windmills, wind turbines, and wind power. Besides global wind capacity, it covers data and trends in cost, installation, technology, and performance. In addition, it presents price and value comparison between wind power and other power sources. This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of course materials.
