This introductory course examines the engineering, manufacturing, business, and project-management lessons behind SpaceX’s reusable rocket revolution. Using Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, Dragon, Starship, and Starlink as major case studies, the course explains how reusable launch systems are changing the economics and practice of space transportation. Topics include the history of rockets, basic rocket propulsion, staging, launch and landing mechanics, booster recovery, human spaceflight, full reusability, manufacturing strategy, vertical integration, and the broader market impact of reusable rockets. The course also highlights transferable lessons for engineers in other industries, including systems thinking, life-cycle cost analysis, rapid testing, design for manufacturability, risk management, and operational learning.
This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of course materials.
