James Hussin, PE, Nick Syriopoulos, and John Schloeter This 1-hour seminar provides an in-depth overview of modern geotechnical technologies with a focus on ground improvement techniques and deep foundation systems. Participants will gain a solid understanding of four widely used ground improvement methods—Vibro-Compaction, Vibro-Replacement (Stone Columns), Compaction Grouting, and Rigid Inclusions—along with guidance on their appropriate applications based on soil conditions and project requirements. The seminar also features case histories of prominent deep foundation projects in Jacksonville, Florida, offering valuable insights into real-world challenges and solutions. Case studies include the use of Augercast Piles and Macropiles at the Jacksonville Panthers’ “Stadium of the Future” project, as well as Driven Piles implemented at the Riverfront Plaza development. Keller North America provides a wide range of geotechnical engineering and construction services to improve soils in place and to both construct new and rehabilitate foundations. The techniques that will be discussed include Compaction & Jet Grouting, Earth Retention and Shoring, Vibro Compaction & Replacement, Micropiles, Soil Mixing for Deep Basement Excavations, and Pile Driving. Within our range of services, a Ground Modification solution is generally available for the toughest subsurface conditions.
