New York Board Laws and Rules for Professional Engineers and Land SurveyorsNY PLS


Besides meeting specific requirements, such as education, experience and examination, an engineer must get familiar with the board laws and rules in order to practice engineering properly in any state. This course provides a review of the New York Board Laws and Rules contained in Article 145 - Education Law, Part 29 Unprofessional Conduct - Rules of the Board of Regents and Part 68 Engineering and Land Surveying - Commissioner's Regulations. In addition, brief case summaries are presented for recent violations and the disciplinary actions taken by the Board. This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of course materials.

*Note to New York licensed PE & LS:
The acceptable continuing education subjects for NY PE/LS include study of law, rules and/or ethics which contribute to the professional practice in engineering and land surveying.


This PDH online course is approved by New York LS Board.

NY PE & PLS: You must choose courses that are technical in nature or related to matters of laws and ethics contributing to the health and welfare of the public. NY Board does not accept courses related to office management, risk management, leadership, marketing, accounting, financial planning, real estate, and basic CAD. Specific course topics that are on the borderline and are not acceptable by the NY Board have been noted under the course description on our website.
