Huang, Ph.D., PE This course provides an overview of the standard trade practices for structural steel buildings, bridges, and other structures as addressed in ANSI/AISC 303-22, Code of Standard Practice for Steel Buildings and Bridges. The course covers the scope and application of the Code; classification of structural steel and related materials; design documents and specifications; approval documents, including shop and erection drawings; materials; shop fabrication and delivery; erection responsibilities; quality control and inspection; contract and payment provisions; architecturally exposed structural steel (AESS); and fabrication and erection tolerances. The course materials are based on the 2022 edition of ANSI/AISC 303. This course is intended to help engineers, architects, contractors, fabricators, erectors, inspectors, and other design and construction professionals become familiar with the customary practices and responsibilities associated with fabricated structural steel. A multiple-choice quiz is provided at the end of the course to reinforce key concepts and enhance understanding of the course materials.
