CHC Engineering provides commercial and residential building design, structural modification for renovation and remodeling projects, structural assessment reports for insurance companies, pre-purchase structural evaluations for property buyers.

In addition, CHC Engineering provides engineering calculations and stamped shop drawings for the light gauge steel construction in Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio and the District of Columbia. We also provide field observation and construction certification services for the light gauge steel construction.

John C. Huang, the founder of CHC Engineering, LLC and PDHonline.org, has over ten years of experience as a structural engineer. He obtained his first Professional Engineer registration in Kentucky in 1993, and was registered in Ohio in the same year. Since then he has been licensed in the states of Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, North Carolina, and the District of Columbia.

His experience includes various types of new and existing commercial, residential, and institutional buildings as well as highway bridges. He has design experience with most types of building materials, including concrete, steel, wood, masonry and light gauge steel.

Dr. Huang was the grand prize recipient of 1992 CRSI Software Development Competition. He is very familiar with computer-aided analysis and design of structures. In 1999, he established the first website dedicated to the online professional development for Professional Engineers, Architects, and Land Surveyors.

Prior to founding CHC Engineering, LLC., Dr. Huang worked as a senior structural analyst for THP Limited in Cicinnati, Ohio, and as the chief structural engineer for Welti Engineering in Leesburg, Virginia. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Dr. Huang received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Zhejiang University, and both a Master of Science degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Kentucky.
