Intended Audience

This course is intended primarily for environmental, civil, and chemical engineers.  It will be useful for anyone responsible for managing hazardous wastes or wanting to learn more about hazardous waste management.

Benefits to Attendee

Someone completing this course will gain knowledge about procedures for determining whether a given waste is a RCRA hazardous waste and thus subject to RCRA regulations.

Course Introduction

Can you determine whether a given waste is a hazardous waste regulated by EPA under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)?  This course covers a very organized approach to answering just that question, starting with determining whether your waste is considered a "solid waste" under the RCRA regulations and moving on to determining if it fits one of the RCRA requirements for being a hazardous waste.

Course Content

The course content is entirely based on the EPA document, “Introduction to Hazardous Waste Identification” (EPA 530-K-05-012).
