This course is intended primarily for environmental, civil, and chemical engineers. It will be useful for anyone responsible for managing hazardous wastes or wanting to learn more about hazardous waste management.
Benefits
to Attendee
Someone completing this course will gain knowledge about procedures for determining whether a given waste is specifically excluded from RCRA regulations under one of the solid waste or hazardous waste exclusions.
Course Introduction
In determining whether a given waste is regulated by RCRA, the second step after determining that the waste fits the RCRA definition as a solid waste, is to determine whether the waste is specifically excluded from the RCRA regulations. Learn about those exclusions in this course.
Course Content
The course content is entirely based on the EPA document, “Introduction to Solid and Hazardous Waste Exclusions” (EPA 530-K-02-0221).

Course Summary
This course describes in detail the procedure for determining if a given waste fits any of the six categories of exclusions from RCRA regulation. There is one category of wastes that are excluded from being “solid wastes.” Another covers wastes that are excluded from being “hazardous wastes.” The other four categories are conditional exclusions that apply only if the provisions in that section are met.
