by providing a concise description of the best practice techniques for verifying
the energy performance of the new construction projects. The objective is to
provide clear guidance to professionals seeking to verify energy and demand
savings at either component or whole building level in new construction and
to professionals seeking the M&V credit specified in the LEED™ rating system.

Introduction
This document has
been composed in a manner that minimizes the need for referral to other IPMVP
Volumes. This was done in recognition that users may be new to the field of
energy and M&V and for this document to be easy to use. While this document
is broadly consistent with other IPMVP Volumes and uses the same format and
key terms the concepts and definitions in relate to new construction. Terms
are identified either in the main text or through the use of footnotes. This
course material should not be applied to retrofit savings determination.
