Course Outline
Ladders are one of common tools used by engineers to access to information on equipment plates or to measure features of a building or process equipment. This two hour course will prepare engineers with knowledge how to select, use and store ladders safely.
This course includes
a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding
of the course materials.
Learning Objective
At the conclusion of this course, the student will:
- Be familiar with types of portable ladders;
- Have knowledge basic ladder safety during engineering projects;
- Be familiar with ladder selection criteria;
- Be familiar with how to store and maintain a ladder;
- Be aware of inappropriate ladder uses;
- Be familiar common ladder accidents;
- Lean how to properly transport a ladder; and
- Learn how to inspect a ladder.

It is thus important for engineers to understand how to use a ladder safely since they are common tools of the trade. Licensed professional engineers must have knowledge of basic ladder safety during engineering projects. This course is intended to provide the attendee with the background and information to how to select, use, maintain, transport and store a ladder.
