Course Outline
In this course, we will lightly review the major component systems of a typical truck. We will review the methodology used for fire investigations and how they are applied to trucks. We will also review the likeliness of fire involvement of the major truck component systems.

Learning Objective
At the conclusion of this course, the student will:
- Understand the basic component systems of a truck;
- Understand the basic fire investigative methodology;
- Be familiar with factors that can affect the investigation of a truck fire;
- Be familiar with component areas that are least likely and more likely to burn in a fire; and
- Be familiar with component areas that are least likely and more likely to cause a fire.
Intended Audience
This course is intended for architects, engineers and contractors interested in the topic of truck fires.

Course Introduction
Truck fires are commonly investigated by private sector fire investigators due to the large loss value associated with truck fires. Truck fires may result in injury or death to the driver, other drivers sharing the road, emergency responders, bystanders, or persons in a property affected by the fire. In addition to losing the value of the truck, a tractor trailer truck fire can easily destroy cargo or loads with extremely high valuation. When not in operation, trucks are commonly parked close together or sometimes inside buildings or facilities. A truck fire even when not in operation can lead to extremely high property damage or fire spread damage to other trucks or vehicles.
