Course Outline

This six-hour online course is only an introduction to Industrial Equipment Process - Testing, Inspection & Commissioning, tailored for beginners, students, engineers, technicians, contractors and professionals interested in commissioning buildings and process utilities.

This course includes a multiple choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.

Learning Objective

At the conclusion of this course, the student will:

  • Be able to learn the codes and standards used in ASNT, ASME, API, ASTM,  MSS, ISO, etc.,  and to increase the recognition of Commissioning as a career field;
  • Understand what means equipment start-up and shutdown procedures, operation in normal and emergency;
  • Define recommendations for special tools and spare parts inventory and emergency procedures;
  • Define health, safety issues, fire combat and building walk-through procedures;
  • Be able to learn and recognize the importance of commissioning and inspection combined with its growing use in civil construction and industrial fabrication;
  • Recognize hands-on operation of equipment and systems, common troubleshooting problems, their causes and corrective actions;
  • Be able of converting metric and imperial unities used in general calculations and to remember some technical concepts;
  • Be able to learn the standard specifications utilized in general process, piping, refineries and petrochemical installations;
  • Understand the parameters to determine the minimum concepts of inspection methods and highly trained personnel, to stay abreast with changing technology;
  • Understand the common terms used in energy management practices, control system operations and noise control;
  • Understand how to apply commissioning process in large construction power plants and minimum concepts of weldments, piping, tubes, pressure vessels, tanks, etc; and
  • Define predictive and corrective maintenance work order management system.

This course is intended for women or men, begginers, students, technicians, engineers, contractors and professionals interested or working with inspection or nondestructive testing.
