Course Outline

This eight-hour online course is only an introduction of many practical concepts utilized in Pneumatics & Compressed Air, but even as a level course, therefore, covers the fundamental theory, tailored for beginners, students, engineers, technicians, contractors or anyone who would like to become a production leader or manage their manufacturing projects more efficiently.

This course includes a multiple choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.

Learning Objective

At the conclusion of this course, the student will:

  • Understand the concepts and parameters used in Pneumatics & Compressed Air;
  • Understand the concepts and parameters used in air compressed tools and directional valves;
  • Understand the concepts and parameters used in pneumatic production and quality systems;
  • Understand the common terms usually used in Fluid Power;
  • Know the meaning and application of pneumatic automation methods;
  • Be able to learn and recognize the importance of pneumatic tools, due its huge use in engineering and industrial production;
  • Know the basic comprehension of the terms generally used by qualified personnel in every stage of automated operations and pneumatic devices;
  • Be able to learn the concepts used in machining operations and to increase the recognition of a Pneumatic Automation Programmer or a Fluid Power Operator as a career field;
  • Recognize the machine tools characteristics, workpiece calculations and all types of panels and compressed air centrally located in any factory;
  • Know the minimum concepts of pneumatic  areas, tables, charts, diagrams and control valves, diaphragms, and several types of actuators;
  • Be able to learn and recognize the importance of many pneumatic conventional and non-conventional machine tools, due its huge use in engineering and industrial production;
  • Know also the basic comprehension of the terms generally used by qualified personnel in fluid power operations;
  • Be aware of air powered equipment, which powers cylinders and other pneumatic devices using solenoid valves, control valves, and several types of cylinders;
  • Be aware that fluid power is the energy transmitted and controlled by means of a pressurized fluid, either liquid or gas;
  • Recognize the equipment characteristics, pneumatic calculations and all types of references such as pressure, density, altitude, SCFM, FAD, etc.;
  • Know the minimum concepts of all traditional machining  areas, tables, charts, diagrams and pneumatic time operations;
  • Understand the meaning of barometers, CV, air circuit, FRL Units, pressure gauges, etc.;
  • Know and understand how to use the reference letters and numbers used in directional valves;
  • Know and understand the meaning of sequences and electro-pneumatic controls; and
  • Understand how to apply several types of valves, cylinders and software simulations.

This course is intended for everyone, women or men, begginers, students, technicians, engineers, contractors and professionals interested or working with automation, fluid power, pneumatic tools, compressed air or managing a manufacturing workshop more effectively.
