In-situ air sparging (ISA) is a rapidly emerging remediation technology for the treatment of contaminants in saturated soil zines and groundwater. Injection below the water table of air, pure oxygen or other gases may result in the removal of contaminants by volatilization or bioremediation. IAS can also be used to immobilize contaminants through chemical changes such as precipitation. This course uses the US Corp of Engineers’ Engineering Manual EM 1110-1-4005 to discuss the process and its design and operation.
This course includes a multiple choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
