Electricity -Essential Definitions (Timed & Monitored)

Jurandir Primo, P.E.

This course is a didactic introduction of electrical definitions with daily calculations and practical quiz questions, with the technology that applies essential energy generation and develops standard cables manufacturing and network techniques for use in equipment and industrial processes. Electrical generations and cabling systems are the wiring network that carries energy, data, voice, multimedia, security, wireless connections, throughout a residence, a building or an industrial plant, including cabling, connecting hardwares, equipment and telecommunication rooms.

In engineering or household applications, current can be either direct current (DC) or alternating current (AC). Electric-power transmission is the bulk transfer of electrical energy, from generating power plants to electrical substations located near demand centers. The rapid industrialization in 20th century made electrical transmission lines and grids a critical infrastructure item in most industrialized nations.

Alternating current is any current that reverses direction repeatedly; almost in the form of a sine wave. Alternating current thus pulses back and forth within a conductor without the charge moving any net distance over time, thus, the time-averaged value of an alternating current is zero. Direct current, produced from a battery, for example, is a unidirectional flow from the positive part of a circuit to the negative, always required by most electronic devices.

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.

User's Guide to Timed & Monitored Online Courses:

For Timed & Monitored (T&M) online courses, you need to log into your account to view the course content. You must complete the required study time (min. 50 minutes for each PDH) before you can submit your quiz answers and obtain your certificate of completion. However, you may print out the quiz questions anytime after purchase.

You do not need to complete the T&M course in one sitting. You may view the course content from office or home using different devices with Internet connection. Our website will keep track of your total time spent. If necessary, you may print the course content for ease of reading while you are online. You may also preview the content of E521T by viewing the content of E521 since they are identical.

For T&M courses, You need to actively view course content online - at least click your mouse once in a while. The on-screen tracking clock may stop due to inactivity at your end.
