PDHonline Course Provider Biography
Randall Whitesides, now retired, has over forty years of experience in the design and construction of systems and facilities in the chemical process industry. His career began at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, focusing on the design of U.S. Naval and American Bureau of Shipping shipboard storage tanks and ASME Code unfired pressure vessels. He later joined the E.I. DuPont de Nemours Company Inc., where he designed piping, heat exchange equipment, and aboveground storage tanks and their secondary containments. At Pfizer Incorporated, Randall oversaw the design, fabrication, and inspection of chemical process atmospheric storage tanks.
During his active career, he was a Certified Plant Engineer (CPE) through the Association for Facilities Engineering®. He held licenses to practice professional engineering in Iowa, New York, North Carolina, and Virginia.
Whitesides earned an Associate in Applied Science degree from Gaston College and a Bachelor of Science degree with honors from the Batten College of Engineering and Technology at Old Dominion University, both in Mechanical Engineering Technology. His academic achievements were recognized with his induction into the Theta Beta Chapter of Tau Alpha Pi National Honor Society. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and Professional Engineers of North Carolina.
