Jim Newton, P.E., DEE Stormwater runoff is a significant issue for many municipalities. As stormwater makes its way into natural water sources, it can have harmful effects on water quality, aquatic life, and the environment at large. To combat this problem, Congress and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have placed a great emphasis on green infrastructure solutions. One of the most effective green infrastructure options is the use of pervious pavements around the built environment. These pavements allow rainwater to pass through their porous surface, which helps to reduce the amount of runoff that enters the stormwater system. This lecture will look at the different types of pervious pavement options, their costs, and maintenance requirements. This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials. NY PE & PLS: You must choose courses that are technical in nature or related to matters of laws and ethics contributing to the health and welfare of the public.
